That is great information. As I am a product of the US Navy, I qualify. Thanks for posting.

If I am buried at sea then I did something wrong, if I get cremated and my ashes are scattered at sea then I did something right.

Thanks -- never knew that.
Figure I've eaten so much seafood in my life that it's only fair that the fishes get their chance

I hope (when my time comes) to simply step over the taffrail.

Bit difficult to do though if you are dead in the cockpit from a heart attack.

Re: How Many Of You Want To Be Buried At Sea?

I have told my son that when my time comes its BAKE AND SHAKE for me. Thats if I havent fallen over the edge of the earth in a small boat. If eternal life concerns you , maybe you should be buried in an apple orchard and someone might eat , and be nurished by an apple that contains a few molicules of you. That is a rather pleasant thought, isnt it?____IN no hurry to test the idea!___Grant.

I don't believe that the heart will fail me, but I'm pretty sure there will be illness before my time comes.

Actually I have a solution to that problem. Once diagnosed with a terminal illness, I will say my goodbyes. Then I will set sail with one of my best friends. The maxim will be that we are to sail where I want till I am dead, then he is to give me a proper sea burial and the boat is his. This will inhibit the desire to prolong my life. If I have a painful disease, I won't mind if he ends it quickly. It's a win win.

Can you imagine the chaos and confusion that would cause? And then all the heroics to try to find you. Not my style. I came in to this world with my dad and my doctor playing cards. I want to go out the same way. No fanfair, just a quiet absence of my presence.
