I worked in an inbound call center, on the late shift. Occasionally we would get difficult calls from "nutters", but at times of a full moon they came out in full force. Every month.

I particularly like the article on the higher incidence of animal bites during a full moon.

It is certainly easy to find at least as many articles debunking the "lunacy myth" as there are papers supporting it. Just talk to anyone who works in a large public facility that deals with the results (hospitals, jails, and morgues) and they will almost universally share the same empirical evidence with you. Several of my wife's co-workers have been long time non-believers, and even they have had to admit the truth eventually, after years of arguing about it. If you work with it it ends up staring you in the face and can't be denied. Now explaining why is a whole different matter...

Re: Full Moon, the Crazies Are Coming Out

Popular legend has it that the full moon brings out the worst in people: more violence, more suicides, more accidents, more aggression. The influence of the moon and behavior has been called "The Lunar Effect" or "The Transylvania Effect." The belief that the full moon causes mental disorders and strange behavior was widespread throughout Europe in the middle ages. Even the word "lunacy" meaning "insanity" comes from the Latin word for "moon."

Is there scientific evidence to support these beliefs? Let's look at the data.

WEll, my buckets certainly seem to get more stressed during the full moon.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

So what would happen then to someone who actually stood on the moon? would the flag they held in their hand suddenly start to wave about in the wind

Guess we will never know

Interesting point, am I naive in thinking that everyday is a full moon when you are standing on it's surface?

it would be either day or night on the moon, but you would have lots of other moons/planets to choose from in various states of umbra
