We've seen no sign of warming up here on the north shore of Superior. Snow and ice as far as the eye can see. Haven't even seen the ice breakers yet. I was hoping to get on board early this year, but now I'm worried we might miss our get-away date of July 1 .

Re: Anyone Else Tired of Winter?

I posted a couple pictures of Lake Superior ice in Photos, "Cruising Destinations" a couple weeks ago.

I want this to be my number 900 post. I am trying to get to 1000 but it is taking a long time.

I think just to get up the nostrils of NA greenies the weather decided to freeze your bollocks off this year. (. Hey that's cultural vernacular ! )

Over here we rarely went below freezing , but I've never seen so much rain and storms.

I think Al gore screwed up the planet or something ( or was it the internet or maybe google )

Re: Anyone Else Tired of Winter?

Well, the winter isn't really that bad. A little warmer than usual. I got sunburned a bit yesterday while out learning how to SUP. The dog seemed to enjoy it.

Re: Anyone Else Tired of Winter?

Welcome to Global Warming. I live on the North-East coast of Florida, and I'll grant you that the weather patterns here are more akin to southern Georgia than Miami, but we've been unduly freezing our asses off and getting drizzled on since October.

As mentioned in another thread, if this keeps up, I'm going to sue the "Sunshine State" for false advertising.

Re: Anyone Else Tired of Winter?

Yes, definitely had enough! Will it ever end???

Alerts for: Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Statements

10:31 AM ADT Monday 24 March 2014
Special weather statement in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Winter storm likely on Wednesday.

A very intense low pressure system is forecast to track near Nova Scotia on Wednesday. Very strong winds and significant snowfall are expected with this system.

The snow is forecast to begin Wednesday morning and be heavy at times. The snow is forecast to change to rain in the afternoon over the eastern half of the mainland and Cape Breton but then change back to snow Wednesday night. The snow is expected to taper off by Thursday morning. Strong winds are forecast to develop ahead of the system on Wednesday and persist as the system pulls away Thursday. The strong winds and snow will cause reduced visibility in blowing snow.

Although there is still considerable uncertainty with respect to exact snowfall amounts, computer models are consistently indicating significant accumulations. There is good potential for parts of the province to see total snowfall accumulations exceeding 25 centimetres with this system.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings. Warnings will likely be issued by Tuesday morning.

Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at Weather Home - Environment Canada.

Re: Anyone Else Tired of Winter?

Just went up in the yard for insurance survey...fixed some bilge pump wiring, getting some bottom paint....bending on rejuvenated yankee....sailing starts on Wednesday! It may be 35F in the mornings but the daffodil's are up and bushes are flowering. Winter has had it.

Well 80 miles east of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, in Wisconsin, it snowed an inch today, and who knows when the lakes will thaw.
