That depends on what you are aground on, soft sand, mud, no prob, even hard botton if your hull is strong enough (Steel) and there is no swell or seas rolling in and the boat isn`t heaving and
no engine block anchors sitting there lol,

Re: Aground in Boston Harbor

I was going down the ICW one day and when it was almost dark I found a small kind of side bay and pulled in there to spend the night. I was sound asleep when the tide went out enough to set me gently on the bottom. I had a wide flat bottomed full-length keel and the boat just sat there as the tide receded. About midnight, I was awakened by a very loud boat motor and the sound of rushing water. I jumped out of bed and ran up the steps to the cockpit. Ther was a very large cabin cruiser roaring past about 25 miles an hour, with lights that lit up the trees for hundreds of feet down the channel. about that time I realised that I was quite high from the water and my boat was slowly tipping over from the wake from the cruiser. Well, it only tipped over to about a 45 degree angle and the water cushioned the fall so The boat wasn't hurt. But it was about 6 in the morning before I came afloat again. Mac
