Don, I know that boat, and it's an easy mistake to make because of where the breaker is located. So maybe it isn't that stupid after all. I can only wish some of my 'stupid' moves were that clever...

Re: 2000 Posts & I'm Still Stupid

Having jammed that same windlass on a Hunter 410, I soon learned to take a boat hook forward with me when pulling up anchor. If the chain stacks up below the hawse it will cause that windlass to jam. Therefore, it's a good idea, every 50' or so, to knock the stack down with your boat hook to prevent the jamming in the first place.

I know I am still a "FNG", but I fail to comprehend how a lapse in judgement correlates to post count.

No no Miss Fixit. I was able to download it to my computer but couldn't upload it to CF cuz it was a .GIF or some such. MarkJ has kindly provided the solution, as his link was to a .jpg which will work. (And hope I thanked you Mark for explaining how you perused this site awhile back. Changed my lotech ways and saved me a lot of time! Gracias.)

Meanwhile, Anjou, your objection is noted and I will not use your avatar as I intended or for any other reason. Please don't go to further trouble. I was planning a dumb poll about sexy-ish avatars. Yours is #2 on my list behind JanetH's avatar, and there are some other good ones around that elicit naughty-cal thoughts in the minds of some hermitized degenerates of the sailing persuasion. I am NOT in that group needless to say.

Re: 2000 Posts & I'm Still Stupid

Sounds like a simple mistake to me. Or several in a row. Not stupid.

What worries me is that you have 2000 posts here and this was like your first time anchoring....that's just wrong. I suggest you try to get your number of days cruising to equal your number of posts on CF.

When I was twenty, I thought I was wrong...but I was mistaken. Many years later I know I am wrong most of the time...but am never mistaken.

It's called a learning curve, and unfortunately for me the curve was more verticle than a curve. Are we related?........i2f

Say what? Where did I say it was my first time anchoring? Or are you just looking to trash someone and ruin a good time?

Don, I really doubt that you can beat these guys, although some have implied that I might.
