Blogs are personal - just like diaries. Many people keep blogs but choose not to share. I share mine, but mainly so my family and friends from around the world can see what I'm doing. My main reason, though, is because I like looking back at my past adventures.

Nobody needs to read it, so I really don't care about whether there are too many technical details, or too much ranting, or too much evidence of how my supreme intelligence or whatever else people choose to moan about (and they'll find something, I'm sure)!

Very good point. I'm also, frankly, pretty moody when it comes to this sort of thing. I may go through some time when I want to be out and alone and other times when I want to feel connected to those back home (extrapolating from my other adventures and travels, I haven't cruised long term). Perhaps the key is managing the expectations of those at home. Technology may be easier to turn off than parents!

Re: Zeehag on the Move

funny zeezee's latest because I was thinking about same on way to gym this afternoon...that they went sailin, then decided to start engine before "threading needle" and couldn't get it goin.

Surprized they can't hand start it with a piece of rope and a knot.

IT: I live in IT professionally, but I don't answer my cell phone. Do you all leave voice messages or hang up when you call someone and they aren't there and you get their voice mail?

SaucySailoress gave a great description on blog best practices.

Mass Email can inform one’s family & friends.
A private diary can provide for personal memories.
A public blog might be more akin to exhibitionism.

Re: Zeehag on the Move

We have similar probs with dirty fuel in our tractors but the injector pumps can be operated manually to keep from burning up starters when bleeding or clearing fuel lines. Do most boat engines not have this option?

Re: Zeehag on the Move

dunno, but 2-3 filters seem to be the norm - one or two for the lift pump and one for the engine pump, and/or with a polishing system for extra credit. could also be wrong fuel?

Re: Zeehag on the Move

zeezee:

yur paypal account can be used to send money to another paypal account. i think you can use a credit card to put money into YOUR account...and then:

Recipients in Mexico can withdraw money you send using one of the following options:
Spend the money online at thousands of stores that accept PayPal
Transfer it to their U.S. bank account (withdrawl takes 3-5 days)
Transfer it to their local bank account (withdrawl takes 3-5 days)

u can also use a visa or mc online at western union to send money.

For cooking ideas with rodents, watch the movie "Never Cry Wolf". Excellent flick, multi-layered.

My guess is, "yes", you can get mouse tacos in Baja, but they don't give 'em to the cats.

Universal truth: Something is ALWAYS up.

Let's try to remember that we were placing bets on which day in the first half of April Zee would be leaving SD. It appears that no one guessed May 7th as her true cast-off date, so the beer I was going to send to the winner of the betting pool will instead be consumed toasting her continued safe passage.

Amen on the beer, John. Like many things in life, some take a little longer. Zee will Get there!

My farther-in-law spent almost four years in a Japanese P.O.W camp in the early forties, he told me of several ways to prepare rodents for dinner. You really don't want to know.
