Re: Zeehag on the Move

This may be a dumb question ... but does the spot have it's own gps? If it is that small couldn't all the variation be to losing sight of a satellite etc. I didn't see anything on spot's website about the variation reports. Although sarafina's observation of the pocket is pretty good too ... going back and forth in the dinghy.

As an aside ... I have always wondered what we would do if/when the military decides to scramble the gps signal ... we will all be lost.

sarafina thats funny! its all over the dock area too...so it could be...but i think it is a rather large device for a pocket.

It really looks like the spot hasn't gone on land at all if you zoom in tight enough.

The tracking line is connecting the dots from each 10 minute interval transmission. (that's why it looks like they sailed through the jetty).

No matter what, it at least appears they arrive there safely and the motion of the spot in thy tight area next to the dock implies the bird is still afloat.

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and words of comfort regarding my friend Emily. The outpouring of support has been a real blessing.

Re: Zeehag on the Move

Ok, at 2:47 local time we got an A-OK message from the Spot. This is only possible if someone there manually selected the A-OK message button.

So, I'm going to make the assumption that after Zee got herself situated there, she finally sent out the A-OK message.

Still wonder what's going on. But the A-OK message is a relief.

I'd have missed it too, but the Spot service fires off a text message to my phone on the A-OK messages. (And help messages for that matter.)

We're like a bunch of arm chair quarterbacks guessing the next play She has about 2 hours before it gets dark again....if she left right now she might make it through the passage...any later and will likely call it a night or go around.
