Re: Zeehag on the Move

Not sure about the math...was going to do some myself this evening but got lazy.

As i remember meburma, you had a fair wind...not as light as this...and seasickness onboard. Plus 7.5 is a pretty max stretch for that size boat...hitting top hull speed...

The big clue for me is the consistent course and speed on the track, which indicated to me she was motoring for a bit. You can check the GRIBS right now for instance and see what the "perceived" weather is like..and that puff above the island etc...

She definitely is hitting the sail...crazy adjustment I think to get away from the lee...but I think she is back in the slot headed for the point:

PassageWeather - Sailing Weather - Marine Weather Forecasts for Sailors and Adventurers

When you do the post game interview you can ask her:

"So, what really happened off of Cedros when you changed course headed easterly?"

Thanks. I haven't checked her wind at all. I've been relying a bit on you lot to keep me informed of conditions as I've been dealing with a death in the family this weekend.

I'll definitely ask her what happened to her course at the south of Cedros!

We mourn the loss of Emily who was shot to death by her ex husband on Tuesday. She was a wonderful woman who taught special needs children (including her own daughter Amanda) in the Orange County area. She was a loving mother and devoted wife. It's been really rough. Please say a prayer for Kurt (current husband and one of my closest and dearest friends), Amanda (7 from previous marriage and daughter of the killer) and Luc (4 months) as they mourn her passing. Her father, Russ, was also killed in the incident.

Thank you Saltymonkey. That's the right news item.

It's been very hard to keep it together during this. Cruisers Forum on my iPhone has been my only mental relief from this horrific reality we are living this week.

It appeears that she's on the wrong side of Cedros in the dark. I hope she is very careful on passing to the south of the ishand into open water in the dark. There are no navigation lights in that area.

Wonder why they took the inside route through there? I know Zee's preference is to sail as far off shore as possible. Juan must be influencing the route. He's a captain and has a lot of experience sailing the coast of Baja. Maybe he knows something she doesn't?

I just pray for their safety moving through those islands and the bay in the dark.

David I was very sorry to hear about your loss. You definitely have my prayers for you and the family. Just picked this up this morning, so wasn't aware of what happened. BTW, I wondered why through that narrow passage.

Re: Zeehag on the Move

Looks to me like she is headed to the town on Cedros Island.
