Re: We're Out of Here!

The nearest airport is Tijuana . Then it is is a 70 minute drive or bus journey to Ensenada . If you are coming from further afield the best airport to fly into is San Diego, get transport to the border , walk across and pick up bus or rental car over there . Which is safest I don't know .

Re: We're Out of Here!

guys-- these boys are stillmy friends-- i pushed david to go -- he NEEEDS to do this before more sailing-- he willnot have to meet schedules aftwr this is done. please be nice to him. tom is also on tight schedule. as we couldnt make the schedule, is better to have gotten me this far--they didnt lie--i forgot tom sed he gets seasick.. and i knew already david is a virgin sailor and he is learning nicely and well. i ducked into ensenada--was MY choice--i didnt have to do that--and tom looked soooo bad i couldnt stand to watch him as he continued to become paler and paler and pukier and pukier.... wasnt a good situation.
now i will go onward and learn my boat better and use simrad and sail with eggie timer. anyone wanna join me??? i can get another eggie timer......

Re: We're Out of Here!

Kudos to you Zee for looking after the health of your crew.

I trust that this puts a full stop on the discussion about David and Tom's decision and this thread can stay open.

Sounds like what I have been finding out. Fly from wherever to San Diego, then: (quote from one site)

"Re: San Diego International Airport to Ensenada by Bus

for Ensenada
It is actually pretty easy...

First you will need to take a bus (#992) from the airport terminal to the trolly station located on the left side about 2-3 blocks after the bus turns left to go into the city (hard to miss).

sdcommute.com/Rider_Information/….

Then you will buy a transfer ticket (a bit cheaper since you paid for the bus already) from the station to the San Ysidro border crossing. Look for the signs that say "To San Ysidro".

sdcommute.com/Rider_Information/trolley/trol…

You should be able to board the red Mexicoach bus at the San Ysidro trolly stop that will take you to Ensenada.

www.mexicoach.com/mexicoach/Ensschedule.html

Mexicoach would be the easiest. An alternative would be to take an ABC bus down. More info on getting to the ABC station is at

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g150770-s301/Ensenada… ."

So, Monkey, you could do it pretty cheaply. So could anyone on the West coast. But if you volunteer, be sure you have the time, money, health, etc. so Zee isn't disappointed again.

Re: We're Out of Here!

Between jobs and stuck. It sucks. I already considered and looked for flights.

Again: Does anyone know any delivery skippers in SD that might take this job on? Let me know asap.

ps: I stress "professionals".

Hmmmm. 2 things. Those of us of a certain age prefer to think of ourselves as wise and experienced, not old! And, from what I can tell, Zee has a lot of sailing experience. We have to trust that she knows what she wants to do, and the limits of her abilities.

Though don't get me wrong - I love the gentlemanly instincts that make you want to come to her aid.

Absolute total agreement. I didn’t start delivering boats until after the double nickel.

Re: We're Out of Here!

Could someone check with Downwind Marine for a boat ride with some other cruiser or powerboat headed south to meet Zee?

If boats deliver parts to boats in need, why not crew?

Re: We're Out of Here!

Best wishes with Bird, the weather, and finding crew zee. to you for giving the guys a chance to see what it's really like out there. Even with good intentions on everyone's part, things happen. It sounds like you are all still good friends and have some memories to share.

I hope you find some warm weather soon.

Re: We're Out of Here!

My wife Vicky and I are working with Zee to get down to Ensenada from Seattle to make the trip to Mazatlan. It's looking like it's all coming together and we should be down there ready to push off on Wednesday weather permitting.
