Re: Video: Is 'This' a Pilot Whale and Did it Attack My Boat! ?

A few years ago, I had a strange encounter with dolphins (probably, since there are no more whales around Brittany), at night. One of them kept banging in the rudder, so hard that I had to hold the tiller with both hands, to prevent the shock from tacking the boat. At the same time, another one placed itself on our windward side and blowed spray on us. I don't know if it was an attack or just playing with us.

A similar incident occured this week, but in daylight: I heard a yachtsman calling Corsen MRCC on VHF and explaining that dolphins were following his boat and banging into it, even after he gybed to change course.

Its a good time to put the engine on. Not to move the boat, but to make it obvious to whales and dolphins you are different. Normally that works
