Re: Velux 5 Oceans

Yep.

Maybe they are like Robin Hood and his ... ;-)))

I looked up earlier today and Gutek was miles behind the second boat, so either the second got lost, hard aground, or Gutek's old clunker delivers in the weather conditions at the finish.

In any case glad to see all boats safe and sound at the end of another leg.

Re: Velux 5 Oceans

Leg four winding up. Brad van Liew is first again (!) into his home port of Charleston. Hatfield finishes second and wins the speed gate. Stanmore-Major still at sea, but will finish third.

And Gutek is still in Brazil with a cracked rib and a busted keel or bowsprit or maybe both. Haven't seen any info on whether he plans to try to finish the leg or will retire.

That's four wins in four sprints for the American, so he seems pretty likely to win the race at this point. Not sure anybody can catch him.

Re: Velux 5 Oceans

Once more for those who haven't been watching.... Brad van Liew is leading the last leg of the Velux 5 Oceans after three days of sailing to La Rochelle. He's being pushed by all three competitors, with 120 miles between boats.

All BvL has to do is finish to win the race ... he won all four previous legs -- so the real battle is for second and third.

Go, Derek!

(just a bit of Canuck editorializing there.)
