Wow.. All the data from Willis Island has dissapeared.

earlier it was reading calm. And had been calm since 8.30 am. I looked around 10.30am. In other words the eye took two hours to pass over. But obviously the data flow has been interupted.
Latest Weather Observations Willis Island

Willis was the best guide as to what its doing out there.

Cheers

But I think she is trying to emulate her, but I agree about the gonads.

Too True. I cant stand her monotone voice. SO fake. But she should still be seen to be working.

Re Tville, Yeh so it seems. That flood plain wont help them too much either.

Yep Willis Island has gone, not the island but the test gear. I would have thought if it was set up for cat5 recording it would have been built to take anything.

When is it all going to end ?
I have my Yacht in Gladstone Marina,I am in South Aussie, been trying to get up there to shift it South,,Floods on road have stopped me getting near the place, now my helper is flooded in Vic. Adelaide had a big 43 degs yesterday,30 degs overnight. sombody up above must be punishing us for something,,as for G Gizzard she will only come out when all the work has been done by Anna B.
Also its amazing how the Gov can find money to fund the likes of Indonesia and not the disasters here at home, stuff foreign aid for 5 years, look after ourselves for a change.

Yeh same thought here. Though it could be a lack of power etc that has caused it.

I visited willis island 15 years ago and it would be a frightening time in the bunker. Willis is a small low flat bare island so imagine the sea would be surging over the structures.

Give up the political chatter.

Why would anyone depend on a politician, of all people, for times like this?

You're on your own.

12.45pm Cyclonic winds will reach up to 300km/h and may rip off roofs. People in their homes are urged to take shelter in the smallest, strongest room in the house, such as the bathroom.
12.44pm The premier warned of dangerous swells right down to the Sunshine Coast. Ms Bligh urged people to stay away from the surf as emergency services are needed elsewhere.
12.42pm The storm surge is expected to reach 6.5 to 7 metre above the highest tide in Cardwell. Townsville will have a 3 metre storm surge. Mandatory evacuations are in place.
12.38pm A number of large trees have already been taken out by strong winds ahead of the cyclone in Ayr, outside of Townsville. Some house have also lost power.
12.36pm Premier Anna Bligh says in a press conference the cyclone Yasi is now on track to cross land somewhere between Innisfail and Cardwell as a category 5.

We have a poli (Anna Bligh) in QLD who has been doing an incredible job throughout the floods and now these dramas. As a general rule not all aussie poli's are fatcats leaching off the system.

Its a big thing for me to give cudos to her, she is some distance on the other side of my political fence. But credit where it is due.

I have friends in Townsville and was glad to hear that they gave up their plans to stay in their home and were able to get shelter at the hostpital where they work. They should be much safer there. We will try to stay in touch with them but I don't hold much hope of that lasting long. Pretty sure the phone towers and power lines will be gone soon. What a mess.

Forget the political retoric for a while guys, they're all the same anyway. Besides, we all vote for them and put up with their antics so we're all to blame really.

Good luck to everyone in QLD and try to stay safe. See you all soon.

I think they would trade it for anything at all. Even extreme bushfires, at the very least they can be controlled -somewhat.
