Exclamation Tonga’s Bounty Bar Burns Down !

Tonga’s Bounty Bar Burns Down!

Those that this year cruised Tonga’s Vava’u Group will be surprised to hear that a devastating fire in Neafu has destroyed a number of commercial buildings on the waterfront.

The Bounty Bar has been totally destroyed.

Owned by one of the loveliest people we met in our travels, Lawrence Hall had only recently leased the building and had been upgrading the facilities while entertaining the cruisers.

Our hearts go out to him and the others affected.

Yep, wrote about that yesterday.

The saddest part of the story is a rumor that three kids around age 10 or younger have been interviewed by police, possibly connected to trying to smoke out some bees and accidentally starting the fire.

Bummer. I hope any replacements don't look like Waikiki!

::decides not mention shenanigans as a Minnesota Native Kid::...

I think the operative word is kid. Those suckers just ain't got no experience, so they do the stupidest, most dangerous things like sailing off around the world alone... or worse, in company! ::winks::

Damn, many a cold one slid down my throat there this year. I hope Baker who lived downstairs was able to save some of his gear. Photo on the vavau.to site showed them rescuing some of the beer from the Bounty and the liquor place next door. Getting their prioroities right. Anybody heard from Lawrence?

Tell me the con artists at Beluga Diving were burned down, and make my day. They charged me for all the emails I sent inviting friends down ,and not a single one was sent.

I wouldn't want to allow Beluga Diving to pass their Karma onto their next victim unchallenged. That would bring bad Karma, for which I'd be reponsible.
