no wonder if sea temperature is the same or even more than tropics. I have seen >30 deg in north med. And this is 45 deg from equator, huh!

even now is way too warm, like New Caledonia that is in tropics. Expect more of it and stronger.

These things happen in the Med now and then.. as for the temps.. its a body of trapped water more or less.. it also happens..
I remember being in a 'Hurricane' event in Mallorca back in 96.. boats were dumped on roads and one sailboat ended up 40ft up a cliff just round the corner from Andratx.. I was on the hook in the inner harbour behind the breakwater where we had run for shelter when the anchorage became untenable.
Did a lot of damage in Palma as well.. and 1 death from a palm tree blowing over.
Unforecast and out of a clear blue sky.
