Re: SEAL Team 6

Good message to send to the pirates. They always thought holding sailors and others for ransom was money in the bank. 9 pirates were killed in this raid, so it is no longer as safe as "money in the bank".

Re: SEAL Team 6

I think President Obama has a grip on modern warfare. It is not about armies going at it face to face any longer. It is more specific. The next step is to put those robot guns on cell towers and give everyone a unique ID. It is hard to commit a crime these days in public-at least in the USA and not be filmed. Can you imagine what it would be like if they had those robot guns everywhere in Baghdad? Until then we will just have to depend upon SEAL Team 6 and drone mounted Hellfire missiles. Look OUT bad guys!! "Don't Tread On Me"

Interesting.

They were kidnapped on land.

Do we have any being held that were taken at sea?

She was American after all. What blanket of security. Sending in a special ops team to just sort out one or two people is hardly a blanket of security . Nor will in make a wit of difference to the pirates , who no doubt next time will just treat the hostages even worse. 9 pirates died , big deal in Somalia, I'd say they loose that number in bar fights every weekend.

I'm all for special ops, ( it makes good PR if successful ) , but it ain't going to solve the problem. In itself it's a drop in the ocean.

Re: SEAL Team 6

I fully support the US/Seal rescue but am wondering about this and what happens next.

From the CNN story:

Quote:
It was not clear how the raid might affect the fate of Michael Scott Moore, a U.S. journalist who was kidnapped Saturday near Galkayo -- the same town in central Somalia where the two aid workers were taken last October.

Watching with interest, and waiting for the PC Police to close the thread.
