Sea Nymph Spotted Adrift

In October 2017, two women and their dogs were rescued by the crew of the USS Ashland. Recently the abandoned vessel was spotted by Volvo Ocean Race's "Turn The Tide On Plastic."

The Volvo boat crew got some drone footage that is now on YouTube:

The boat looks to be riding low in the water, bow down, but otherwise relatively intact.

It’s not going to last long.
I guess it’s bilge pump is inop, with all that Solar and wind it should have had power, until the water got to the bank anyway.
Why were they rescued?

Because they were lost and did not know how to sail.. assuming its the stripper and her friend with the $15 GoFundMe.

That's the one. Shame for that nice collection of solar panels, and the boat also seems to be a seaworthy kind...

GTom, the owner supposedly custom rebuilt the entire boat adding something like 9000 pounds of extra fiberglass and extending the keel. I suppose you could call the boat extremely seaworthy, since it has remained afloat despite the worst of abuse and neglect, but the phrase "a face only a mother could love" comes to mind.

The story was something like they (and their dog) ran through a year's worth of food in less than six months while failing to complete their three-week planned trip, because the massive new keel was too deep to fit in any known ports and there were too may gear failures and the nasty fishermen who finally gave them a tow were sinking them and....Oh, how did you miss all the entertaining details of this one?!

The only thing they didn't say was why they waved off Trump's helicopter and canceled their dinner plans with him.(VBG)

The boat deserves a proper Viking funeral, a couple of thousand pounds of napalm would do the trick, but of course, that wouldn't be removing and recycling all that plastic. Shucks.

Considering the mast was still standing I don't see how they couldn't get some sail up. A submarine in WWII with damaged engines managed to make 2 knots under sail using the periscope as a mast.

If you followed the earlier discussion of the topic you'd understand (apparently the dog was the most skilled &experienced sailor on board)

It remains a permanent reminder of a great folly.

It also has its own eco system growing on the hull by the looks in the latest video, so the environmentalists will want it protecting from any interference.

Regardless of all the hullabaloo surrounding the dog and the crew and the journey and the rescue, I think an abandoned boat must be the saddest sight in the world.

One of their crazy statements was that the boat was going to sink within 24 hours. That's about as accurate as their other tall tales.

So sad. Boats really don't want to die. Shame on the crew, except the dog. I am sure the dog's trust was misplaced.
