I went for a while. It was not easy to get to - you had to park and catch a bus if coming from south, or if like me and coming from
Brisbane then you parked near the Riviera yard and caught a free
ferry from there to Sanctuary Cove. All sounded good, but the
ferry capacity was woefully inadequate, so 30-60 minute wait to get onto a ferry for a 30 minute ride. I did
email them after I got home to tell them to get their act together.......No reply, but hopefully next year will be better organised in that respect.
The show itself? Seemed busy enough to me, and I went on Friday to avoid weekend crowds. Queues to go aboard most of the boats in the marina was a pain so I didn't get on board much at all. If you plan to go then best to pre-arrange appointments for the boats you want to see.
I hadn't been for a few years, but thought that the
equipment suppliers were less well represented than a few years back, but most of the big name brands of
equipment and engines were there. They were easy to get to talk to, and kinda nice to see a lot of stuff and talk to suppliers all in just a few hours.
The quirky thing I saw
on the hard was this:
About trailerable houseboats
It's a
catamaran that folds up for trailering, can have different 'pod' tops and has very efficient
hull shapes. I think their
price point is a bit off though....
