Thanks for the usual slam to the US Mark. We're an easy target. I can see your sexiest point since we are a bunch of sailors. Yourself included and yes, you have dipped into that pot yourself. But racists? That lable seems to be loosely used these days. The definition as I read Racism is: : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Not really seeing that one here. But if it adds structural stability to your soap-box...go for it.

Here's an update. Not looking good.

Holland says he thinks for now he'll just sail the Schwalbe around the peninsula and tie up in the Northwest Arm.

He can't go far though, the Canada Border Service Agency has told him to stay in Halifax.

I was admiring that boat while walking about the waterfront the other day, didn't realize it was having problems as it looked in as good a condition as any other cruiser. Overnight dockage is $1.75/foot/day , they have given him quite a break allowing him to stay there for free.

Show up in many countries without a visa and see what happens. Some countries throw you in jail before deporting you.

Hard to say what the circumstances were regarding the "Faen" (girlfriend). Could have been an expired passport. That said, from the read, this guy seemed to have got a little too comfortable. Free slip fee? Sign me up!

I wondered at that as well. I think that maybe because of expired passport he has been told to stay in the Halifax area while in country. I can't see them being able to stop him from leaving unless the boat was impounded, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It would only likely happen if a creditor had filed a lien on the boat. I have seen that happen to the Polish fishing fleet in Vancouver, years ago.

Also the guy could be spinning yarn.

Only because you think we live in a logical world.

In the world of bureaucrats anything can be declared possible.

What is strange is not trying to move further up into the basin where he would draw less attention.

My guess is he is broke and has no way to generate income.
