Re: Sailing in Treacherous Waters to Alaska. With Toddlers for Crew

Hello, John.

Good of you to post this :-)! As you know, the Salish Sea is my cruising waters, and I absolutely love them. This article is delightful.

I think you are on the wrong coast :-)!

We’ve been doing it since ours were born and m any years before without kids. We were on the outer coast with our oldest when he was three months old. Wouldn’t really call the inside treacherous.

Re: Sailing in Treacherous Waters to Alaska. With Toddlers for Crew

When our children were quite young, we sailed from Southern California to southern Mexico, out to Hawaii, then up to Sitka, Alaska. The 986mb-low that hit us in the Gulf of Alaska was far more ‘treacherous’ than anything we experienced in the Inside Passage. Our experience with that gale earned us a chapter in Steve Dashew’s book, ‘Surviving the Storm’.

Fair winds and calm seas.

The sorta trauma that really builds character in toddlers, prepares them for real life 8-)

The only wrong coast is being stuck on land 8-D

Which looks like my situation will continue to require for a while yet.

Kids not getting any younger either, soon they'll think they have a say. . .
