I have never heard of Heather until an hour ago. A tough going this young lady had. I could not see where I could drop her a line. It may have been right in front of my eyes, but I could not find it. Can someone post her address for me?

Heather's email address appears on the bottom of the home page of her Web-Site and is heather@solo-sailor.com.

Cheers,

Just read her Website again (had a look around new year) - not quite amazed that some folk have sent her negative comments, but dissapointed nonetheless.

IMO all power to her for trying and seems very sensible in calling a halt to things - I am sure this is only one leg on her journey anyway

Yeah, if someone is in need of other people's services, other people should be required to pay for it.

Flight of Years

Well--I keep thinking that an injury in mid ocean might have been a lot worse.

Things might seem tough now--but Heather is alive and on shore.

What is the injury?
What is the surgery?
What is the rehab?

Must be pretty bad because it must end up with a physical disability to stop one from sailing.

by the way

i do have private insurance, around 4000/year, but i still think about all the people who can not afford it, and that we are in a great country where one can get medical help, and does not have to swim to Cuba to get it !!!!

You are mistaken about Cuba's medical system. It is only for the elite class.

Everyone in America can get health care and they do it every day. They just present at the local emergency room and cannot be refused care. This is widely known and used regularly by those without insurance. They use the ER as a clinic. Goofy sort of system but it is about as effective as other "first world" country's systems. They walk in, they wait a long time, they get treated. I know of many that come from all over the world to have medical care delivered here in the USA. There are many thousands each year. Why is that?

Well thank you and I wish you well also.
As to Michael Moore, I have found that he is like our local news. He only presents parts of facts and takes/shows much wholly out of context, but when viewed it makes sense.........but isn't true at all.

All the best to you and yours.

Really????? A lot must have changed there in the last 3 weeks since we left! He and Al Gore aren't as squeeky clean to Aussies as they were a few years ago.

Back with Heather. She is asking a fair bit for her 20 foot boat... US$75,000

Mark

The Flicka sold for over $100,000 new--probably why they did not sell so many of them--they were a special boat built for special people. Apparently Heather's boat was renovated and further improved--so the price is probably reasonable even though one could buy a thirty five footer for that sort of money.

Horses for courses I suppose--
