According to Noonsite two of the culprits were just convicted to around 100 years in prison. Two other persons who participated in the crime are reported dead. Hope they were killed during capture and just didn't bribe thier way out of it!!!
I believe the marinas and resorts are now paying for 24 hour patrols by the Coasta Guarda on the 17 miles of the Rio Dulce.
