Why not leave your contact info at the yard office? The new owner would likely love to know anything you can tell him / her. The office might forget, byt nothing ventured...

Well........ another year has past....... this has to be the longest living thread on this website.....

Still no word about Kanani...

I check GoogleEarth images once in awhile. It appears that she may be still in "Marina Costa Baja, La Paz, Mexico". I put that in google earth about once a month and do a search for that location. I can see her sitting in the NW corner of the haul-out yard but the image hasn't been updated since 2010. I can see her stern from the street view and it appears that someone may be living aboard.

Here we are in 2018......... to my knowledge, Kanani is still in that yard in La Paz........ it's been 17 years now....... how sad that someone hasn't snatched up that amazing yacht.

Still no word about Kanani... I guess next year, I may have to pronounce her dead if I have no word of her. She no longer appears in the google earth images. I have to assume that she has either taken on a new life/name or has been scuttled.

Yes, Kanani, it may be time to let her go.

Never give up. Someone in that yard knows exactly what happened to Kanani.

It's reasonable to presume that someone is paying the yard charges.
Sadly it's the fate of many yachts to end their lives on the hard.

20 years now........ guess it's time to let go. I'm 75 now and not in the best of health. This coronavirus thing has me pinned down in my home.

If you don't hear from me again........ well......... fair winds my friends.

Re: Resurrection of Kanani

I have fond memories of the privilege of being invited to join the captain of Kanani from NZ to Australia in 1996 - a voyage I will never forget. My heart breaks to hear after all this time that there simply is no substantial news whatsoever as to her fate. She was indeed a steady, responsive ride through all conditions encountered.
I have determined to put on my thinking cap to surely find a way to determine the fate of Kanani before her ageing captain makes his final voyage to the never-ending ocean idyllic destinations.

Hopefully by your post here, you have not contracted the virus. La Paz was my go to place in Mexico. For some reason it just fit for me. I had got out of cruising for about 3 years after a really bad and disgusting crew I had from Guaymas to La Paz. It has taken me that long to gain interest in cruising again...I just had to let go. Now I have a little ship that suits my single handing needs.

Re: Resurrection of Kanani

I know this has dragged on forever and a day but I just had a crazy idea. You know the boat inside out and probably have a record of the hull plate number. Is there no way to search that out? I bet if I challenged the CF members to hive mind a solution to tracking it down they'd have all kinds of wild ideas. Only 1 is needed to figure this out. Let's get some closure. We can totally do this [emoji106]

Surely somebody is crusing that way ....
Just sayin.
