highest waves may be as much as 46 feet, up from estimates of only 33 feet that were made as recently as 1996, and a 40 percent increase.

December and January are the months such waves are most likely to occur, although summer waves are also significantly higher.

Sound like a really small sample of data. Sometimes scientists rush to publish so they can get funding, not because they have good info. They're saying 100 year levels while admitting that they only have 40 years on their best buoys.

Hell, if it keeps on raining in the PNW like it has been, it'll knock the waves down anyway .... rumor has it that somewhere to the south of us there is this big orange ball up in the clouds ... well, they say it is blue elsewhere ... oh, well, at least the rain washes some of the mold off my jacket ..

And here I am planning us a vacation (finally!) for next month, looking at all the lovely cool, foggy pictures of your part of the world...thinking how nice it'll be to get out of this horrible heat & humidity, away from how the sand sticks to everything when you're sweating, for a week!

And the weather usually clears up after the 4th July with a 50/50 chance of riain on that day. But then the winds are not all that great in July either. August is our best month. The nights only get down to 60º and the days maybe to 80º w/an occasional few smoking hot days.
