Our Experience No Name Harbor to Bimini

Hello All,

Just thought I would quickly share our experience on making the crossing to Bimini from No Name Harbor. No Name Harbor is a nice anchorage we arrive late and it was pretty full so we just anchored outside in the bay, lots of room. The second night we did anchor in No Name Harbor and enjoyed the restaurant. You can go ashore and walk around the park it is nice.

We took a quick Uber ride to the Winn Dixie just a few miles from No Name Harbor a bought provisions.

Fuel at the Crandon Park Marina is two miles away and best prices we found, it's a municipal marina.

Bimini was a quick run 2-3ft seas. Arrival in Bimini we docked for the night in Alice Town at Bimini Blue Water Resort. Friendly, a small marina, nice docks definitely recommend $1 a ft plus $15 for electric. They also have gas and diesel if you need it.

Get your customs paperwork from marina office and fill out the customs forms and the immigration forms for each passenger. Customs office is next door at the Big Game Marina, take the exact change in cash ($300 for the boat and first 3 passengers plus $20 for each passenger over 3). After paying customs you need to go approx 4 blocks further north and the immigration building will be on your left (pink building says police station). Turn in your immigration forms and present passport for each passenger and you are all done.

We made it to Staniel Cay and back to Tampa, had a great trip.

Wait. . . what??? $300? Plus $20/person. Wow. Obviously I'm a newb here because that's an expense I would never have anticipated! Is there a reference source where I can look up those customs and immigration charges for various islands?

$150 for boats of less than 35 feet, $300 for boats 35 feet and over. The person rate is now $25 each for over 3 passengers.

Hi Jerr, It is a one time charge for a cruising permit for the entire Bahamas for up to 90 days which I believe you can extend for an additional 90 days for free.

The NO Name Pub at No Name Key next door to Pine Key, the only key with the only set of lights in the keys is one of the most unique spots that I have found while travelling in the US. This place would not be allowed in Canada I actually have their Tee Shirt. Great Pizza and Beer if you can get in. When we do our next trip we planned on anchouring here. Glad you had a great trip, smooth sailing.

Re: Our Experience No Name Harbor to Bimini

In the interest of presenting good info, the charges for Bahamas cruising permit are now $150 for up to 30 feet LOA and $300 for over 30 ft. This changed quite a while back. I have heard of people being charged the old rate, of $150 up to 35 ft, feel lucky if you do. Many websites including the Bahamas tourism site are not accurate.

So I'm thinking 34 feet (or less) is a good size boat for me.
