Memorial fund for Spike Perry

Three weeks ago my beautiful 30 year old son, Spike, died suddently of pneumonia. I am crushed. Mom is more than crushed. Spike was a sailor's sailor.

He attended Seattle Maritime Academy where he learned to be a commercial seaman. After a few years at that he became an iron worker. He was extremey creative and he loved working at the forge and he was very good at it.

I would really appreciate it if you could contribute to Spike's Fund at the Seattle Maritime Academy so we can send more kids to school to become seamen. The money is going to scholarships with the only stipulation that I get to meet the kids.

SAILING ANARCHY has raised well over $10,000 for the fund let's see if we can do that over here. Here is the contact:

o Seattle Central Foundation Donation Page
o Seattle Maritime Academy

I'd appreciate anything you can do.

---------------

For all of you cruisers in the PNW on May 2nd at 7pm we will be having a fundraiser at Conor Bryn's Pub in Ballard, where else. There will be live music. I know Max, Spike's brother will do a set and I may even do a set. You'll have to pay to make me stop singing.

So come on down, support the fund and wear your CRUISER'S FORUM T shirt.

DO NOT set your nipples on fire or you will be mistaken for a SAILING ANARCHY person. ( They have been huge supporters)

I will definitely have at least one nipple on fire. Or maybe I'll just use a felt pen.

This is a chance for sailors to show their support for one of them. It would mean a lot to me if you showed up.

Bob,

Sorry for your loss! He was a good looking kid. I'll add a little to the pot.

What an excellent way to honour your son! I'll be happy to make a contribution, Bob. Again, sorry for your loss.

I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. My heartfelt condolences.

Of course will chip in.

What a fitting memorial for your son.

No parent should have to endure such a loss. So sad!

What a lovely way to share the memory of Spike with others. I'll be sending in a little something.

Hi Mods

Can we tack this thread permanently to the top of recent posts, at least for a few weeks?

Bob has done so much for all of us, least we can do for him.

Re: Memorial fund for Spike Perry

Bob,

I went over to the donation page. I'm guess you would like us to put Spike's name in the "Memory of" section. Is there anything else we should note - such as "Cruiser's Forum" somewhere?

Well, that was disturbing.

Good luck with the party, Bob. I'm sure it will be a proper send-off.

Re: Memorial fund for Spike Perry

CF has made a special notice on the portal page and melded the two posts. They did a very nice job of it and for that I am grateful.

I would have preferred thet stayed here but the powers that be seem to think this is a better idea. I never go to the portal page.
