MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

She is about to be scuttled and it hurts me that I cant take her.

She needs an engine but is afloat and if not taken within a week, then she is going to meet Davey Jones.

She is located South East England, so please only reply if you are willing to take on this project.

More details can be found in my blog (link in my sig) under the header "Decisions decisions decisions"

My missus has decided that we cant afford the mooring fees for her so "we" have decided that she could find a better home from someone on here.

No timewasters please as she will be lost within 1 week.

Heartbreaking - I looked at the picture on your blog, and she's beautiful.

Mate, haven't you got a garden? Haven't the in-laws got a garden? Hell, I'll rent you my mother's driveway cheap if you really want to keep her - no harm in having her on the hard for a while till you can sort out a mooring....

I really do appreciate your offer, but you know what its like when a woman makes up her mind!

The mooring would be £50 a week which I believe is within my budget but the added cost of the engine, transport up north and then the paint job has made her decide it wouldnt be a 5 minute job and thinks it would take me 2 or 3 years and she would rather I save the money and buy a more "ready to move onboard" boat in 2 or 3 years

Awww, and there I was 2 years back just looking out for something like this.

If I had some money left over from my project I would be sorely tempted cos ive got loads of room to store it

Too bad it's on the other side of the pond. I would be tempted as I have plenty of room here.

Hi boatman61,

The Harbour master said that as far as he knows she is all there with the sails ets still. She is a project boat (she is SSR registered).

The person she was sold to at the end of last summer realised he coundnt sail and left her at poole quay.

By the way she is free, as money cant be exchanged legally with the harbour master. Hope we can sort something out.

My problem is how big a 'Project'.... if she floats without taking on water I can bring an OB and dinghy across with me and sail her down to Portugal.... otherwise.. if its a lift out for underwater work that would involve high costs to lift her and fix.. just a bottom scrub and paint I can do between the tides up on some hard sand..
Poole is in one off the most expensive areas in the UK.... lol...
Have you seen her or is just a 'word of mouth' thing... the Macwesters are nice little boats and roomy for their size... fairly good sailers.. for bilge keelers and pretty boats...

It is word of mouth but he swears she is seaworthy, she currently is afloat with no leaks. Can I PM you the details and you can ask the questions?

Nice one... maybe mention I'm an old mate of Rob Hawkins... used to work with him in the '90's... the main man for moorings/salvage etc in Poole and CG co-ordinator for quite a few years...
May make him more amenable....
