Local knowledge from members sticky

Hi everyone. Following on from some pretty dangerous mis-information on here regarding rules in different sailing destinations I would like to propose having some sort of sticky for members who are looking for current, up to date rules and information of cruising destinations. Instead of relying on "ten years ago I did this and I did that and got away with it", I feel it would be more beneficial to have a repository of up to date information from people on the ground/water who actually have an involvement in the destinations concerned who can provide accurate information or links to people who can. As has often been demonstrated, relying on website links, especially in developing nations is fraught with problems. Having the ability to PM a knowledgeable, local person directly rather than risk the bullying tactics of some on here might help to ensure accurate information is available to all who want it.
Noonsite and Cruisers Wiki are great but are not as interactive and immediate as forums and can only react once information is volunteered to them.

Not really, but I've had to spend a lot of time & energy countering mis-information about my own country on here and it's amazing how the bully boys gang up and tell me how wrong I am, yet it is part of what our business does. I need to keep up to date and I actually write a weekly newspaper column on exactly these topics. On the odd occasion I have been wrong I am quickly corrected by customs or whoever. All the information I write on here has been verified by officials.

I might add that regardless of time period, different people have different experiences at the same location. Some people just don't get along well with Customs and Immigration and others have no issues at all.... at the same place and the same time. All internet info should be taken with a grain of salt.
