Lizard Island 2012

This June, July and August I'm planning a cruise from Townsville to Lizard Island. This is the first time I've done this stretch of the Australian coast line, and I'm looking forward to the adventure.

I'd appreciate any advice about what not to miss on the way up, or whilst there. I know there is a research station, and a few resorts.

But what I really want to know is "are the Lizard Island Olympics" an annual event, and if so, when are they being held in 2012? I first got word of the Lizard Island Olympics through the Australian publication "the Coastal Passage.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

There is a group of sailers that do Lizard Island annually,
T Shirts etc,
I found them by accident on the internet,
Sorry, But I have no other info on them,
But they do have a good time up there.
