Re: Leap of Faith--Alaska Rescue at Sea
The sailor made an incredibly lucky leap. Good on him for that. Why he was so late in leaving that port in late October is a good question. Must have had a good reason or he underestimated the weather patterns and rough seas up there. Glad he and his kitty made it off the boat and kudos to his rescuers. Too bad he lost his boat though.

Never trust any French. Remember Trafalgar ;-)
I am glad the guy made it. It is very late to make that passage in a small boat. He was lucky.

Looks like he's wearing a backpack, too.
Amazing piloting by the Tor Viking to get and stay that close to a drifting sailboat!

Re: Leap of Faith--Alaska Rescue at Sea
he was very luck he made the jump. if he missed and went in the drink it may have been the end. I doubt they had a rescue swimmer onboard.
was it just me or did the rig look intact. good bet the boat survives just to wash up on the rocks somewhere

They said the boat lost its rudder and some rigging.

Re: Leap of Faith--Alaska Rescue at Sea
I'm going to name my boat Faith. And should I die at sea my epitaph will read: He took a leap off Faith.

Re: Leap of Faith--Alaska Rescue at Sea
Any ideas on the brand of the boat? I am surprised by the number of boats with rudder failures over the years.

Looks to be a lightweight go-fast boat.

Re: Leap of Faith--Alaska Rescue at Sea
Why did this nut take a 30 foot boat into the North Pacific at the end of October????
I plotted the Lat & Long from the USCG Video on a goggle map.
