It should probably be noted (and really should have been noted in that article), that 10% of all money donated to her and her voyage, goes directly to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

I'm sure the bulk of that money is needed for her family to visit her and help her out during the journey, not necessarily with repairs... I'm not a fan of the teen record seeking sailors of late, but I think this girl is the real deal. She's not in it for the money or for any record..or for her parents fortune.

And she's 15, she's not even allowed to work maybe she should just stay home and get a job at the local mall and start thinking about boys and cars? Since that's "normal" and "right", right?... Since you're so well financed Mark, then it probably wouldn't hurt you to donate a few bucks to an aspiring young sailor, would it?

Since Laura Dekker has completed her TransAt and arrived in the Caribbean, and since political commentary has been injected into the thread (since removed), it has been closed. This might be a good time for someone to start a new thread on the next phase of her voyage (hopefully without the political nonsense.)
