Jessica Watson

Just watching a 2 hour show on TV on the voyage.

Bloody inspiring and certainly puts it right up the likes of Nacy Knudsen and other nay sayers.

Also enjoyed watching Jess in action. Some of those swells in the Bight looked awesome.

(Wonder how an 1160 would handle the trip?)

Yup, just saw it myself (and now reading the book). JW is one very special person.

I dont see me mentioning hate anywhere in my post. Knudsen was a someone who decried the "realness" of the trip - not a real circumnavigation - yada yada yada- a few minutes watching those rollers convinced me of the realness. What ever your thoughts on these sorts of voyages - she handled hard conditions very well.

And DEVO Dave - talk to Royce Black from Seawind about 1160s and 1000s doing that trip. Better still - grab yours and go!

Nope. She just stated the fact that ...

Thats KNUDSEN's opinion Sven, its not Jessie Martins opinion so maybe we will defer to him.

In any event - get the video and if you arent inspired by it then you aint alive.

No one can argue that Jessica did not sail real well, for she arrived safe and shaved 100 plus days off Jesse's time sailing the same model S&S.

But it is true they've removed the 'youngest' record from the statute books so he remains the man with the record.

But even removing the record has not prevented at least one sub 16 year old risking their life for fame and fortune............and I am absolutely sure others will follow all the time they continue to get PR about the event.

.
Again I can but defer to Jessie - he says she beat him, he says the record is hers.

But what would he know.

You guys are so gullible! The whole thing was filmed in Bollywood, see this exposé by none other than Mike Perham and Don McIntyre who knew the truth all along:
Voyage of the Bounty Boat: Jessica's Oyster!!
(BTW she failed to get the "proof" picture up in the required ten minutes, it took her a few hours, I wonder why...)

Borrowed from someone else, in a non-sailing context:

"How do the 25-percenters get away with it ?

They simply repeat their claims until people get tired of correcting them."
