In response to Royal Navy warnings of an expected increase in pirate attacks in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden, the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has updated and re-issued its guidelines to yachts contemplating making a passage through the Gulf of Aden and the Somali Basin.

Thanks CLOD, but I don't need to read them!

Hopefully next time we are in the area it will all have settled down

Can I also point out people should carefully study the live pirate map and see the intersecting route information from maldives to Salalah where it intersects with commercial shipping route Asia to IRTC. That precise intersection has had MANY attacks this year and last.

Also note how close many are to Aden. Thats one reason why we didnt stop in, and thats where we saw an attack occur. By the way, NONE of the 3 attempted hijackinigs during our transit are recorded on the map so there are MANY more than indicated.
