Inspection of Yachts in the EU

This one is bit long but could have a large impact on Yachts visiting the European Union countries.

EU's 100% rule on inspections may hit yachts

Sigh.... and so the Brussels Bureaucrats dance to yet another French tune... we had this a few years back with life-rafts etc... when if the originally suggested regs were taken literally an Optimist would have needed one... bring back the Guillotine

I went to the ParisMOU home page and had a look around. Canada is not on any list they have, black/grey/white or anything. So automatically I would be up for inspection annually. But I have to wonder, what are the requirements for a yacht? This whole thing is geared for commercial shipping and the requirements are published. They seem never to have inspected yachts, so what are they basing inspections on?

Their site does list the Port State Control mechanisms in various countries, including Canada so it would seem smartest to contact your flags PSC and find out what the requirements are.
