I suppose if there were any rules I'm not sure where they are. If you choose to make them up then I suppose they may or may not apply. I'm not aware of any public poll that determines the fate of who goes or not.

Had Jessica not collided with a ship and did complete the trip only to miss being the youngest by one day we in all probability never would have heard about it. Had she broken the record no one would have question if she should have gone.

I'm not sure Cruisers Forum is about rewriting the rules to live by based on a consensus of members that want to join the argument. The exercise becomes a social commentary that isn't going any place important. It does provide entertainment as the participants argue about the topic but it does grow tiresome quickly.

Jessica Part II seems to be a real yawner to me.

This thread is pointless, because Mr. Watson isn't just going - she's already gone.

Dragging Abby Sunderland into it is merely an attempt to take the heat off Ms. Watson. In the event Ms. Sunderland actually manages to mount a serious effort, then discussing whether or not she should set sail might be valid. At this point, her quest is a bit like a bulk carrier a mile away that a sleepy sailor doesn't see - not on the radar.
