ICW From JAX to St Augustine

Jacksonville (±Mile 747) to St. Augustine (± Mile 780) is about 33 Statute Miles (28.7 nm); hence, about 5 or 6 hours (@ ± 5 kts).

There are no Fixed Bridges lower than 65' on this stretch of the AICW.

I use to do that trip allot. I kept my boat at whitneys before we moved it to st Augustine. I hate the ditch there its long enough trip your gonna hit the tide ither going in or out of one of the channels. It slows the boat down to about 2 to 3knots.
It's 6 to 8 hours. A few bridges and some are based on times. The lions bridge dissent open during peak traffic, ect. Take the ocean it's easier faster and relaxing. No traffic no low spots, sunken barges. Have fun. Best city ever.. take some ghost tours there's a bar tour real fun.

from mayport there are 4 bridges but all over 60' down to camachee cove at st. augustine inlet. it gets shallow and narrow in the palm valley area. due to strong tides it is tough to time this right so allow a day if in a sailboat. traversing the ICW south of the inlet is tricky with lots of oyster bars so you may want to have a GPS chartplotter or a good paper chart.

Thanks! Love to go outside but waiting for tide to come up (another hour) so we can be free of some mud. Oops!! New boat to us- day 3 of shakedown...don't want to come in to st aug near dark...
