Harvest Moon Regatta 2010

Are there any members here planning to do this years Harvest Moon Regatta? This will be my first and really looking forward to it. I plan to be at the Skipper's Meeting at the Lakewood Yacht Club this Friday at 7:30 PM. I look forward to meeting anyone from here! Hoping for a clear sky, big beautiful moon, and some downwind sailing....and of course a bit of rum once we arrive in Port Aransas.

The Harvest Moon is a great event, but not always downwind. I did it twice when I lived in Houston. Once was a drifter the first afternoon and then we motored all night. The wind never picked up above 8 kts the next day.

The following year was a blowout. Several boats were dismasted and half the fleet DNFd.

So you never know. But the rum is good once you get there!!!

Yes, you are right David. The weather can be unpredictable in the fall. Last years regatta claimed a few casualties.
