Greta hitches a ride on La Vagabonde

It looks like Greta Thunberg will be sailing across the Atlantic on La Vagabonde to the UN Climate Change Conference in Spain.

Good on Riley and Elayna for using their influence to raise concern about this huge global problem. No doubt the usual suspects will attack them for this, so they are taking a bit of a risk.

Yeap, let's attack them, Greta for raising awareness for the difficult situation the planet is potentially in, and the Vloggers for raising their profile, doing what they set out to do all along.

Good on them all. I cheer them on all the way.

She could to be a little less 'hysterical' in her delivery. I don't need to be lecture-screamed at by a 16 year old girl who sounds like she's having a temper tantrum. The message is excellent, but she needs to work on her delivery for me to take her seriously.

Poor Greta, she sure does do it tough.
I wish someone would have stolen my childhood like that. (-;

Asperger’s is not a learning disability.
People with Asperger’s will have an average or above average IQ.

interesting, isn’t it: the loudest enthusiasm screaming for the most radical, go-for-broke (end?) solutions historically was alway created by persons mentally disturbed to some degree...

Now if this does not qualify her to know the solution to a problem the whole scientific community disagrees about, what else will...
all GT enthusiasts: switch off the sound & look at her grimacing while she speaks...

you are correct.

I should have said developmental disorder, not learning disability

Crossing the North Atlantic in November is a daunting proposition. She'll need all her courage and passion out there as will Elayna and Riley. Luckily she has plenty of both those attributes.

I have a feeling the outcome for La Vagabond will be just the opposite. People who like sailing shows to get away from politics will leave...along with their dollars. The young radical folks will flock to the the show and watch a few shows, until the next hip topic takes off.

Take a look at the comments on this "news" article. Absolutely brutal.

Bring this back to sailing, not sure I would want to sail a light performance cat in the atlantic this time of year....I hope stardom hasn't clouded their judgement and this ends badly. Do they even have AIS? Couldn't find them....

If you are so moved you can track them on predictwind.

But as we inevitably argue about all this let us not forget they have Nikki Henderson aboard. While I might have some doubt about Riley's overall wisdom I don't think I would argue with this young lady yachtswoman

Really eponysterical that.

If your family is sitting in a car stalled on the tracks, in the path of a speeding train bearing down on you, and your daughter's screaming hysterically at you to move the car

are you going to criticize her "shrill tone", much less ignore her as a result?
