Gravelles Closing on Monterey Bay

A little bit of sad news for local Monterey Bay sailors. It looks like Gravelles Boatyard in Moss Landing will be closing down and sold by the end of the year. Apparently the $110,000,000 lawsuit filed by MBARI (Monterey Bay Aquarium research Institute) naming Gravelles as a gross polluter, was too much. Apparently it is being sold to an ROV company.
Already other marine service industries are feeling the pinch in the San Francisco Bay from environmental groups. Yards do not seem to be able to keep up with changing demands put upon them. I also noticed the new bottom paint on the shelves now with less copper in them.
It seems the industry is slowly dying off.

Re: Gra

Sorry to hear that. That's where we dinghied over and Paul installed his engine isn't it?
