Freed Somali Pirates 'Probably Died' - Russian Source

They were released in an inflatable boat without navigational equipment.

Within an hour, contact was lost with the boat's radio beacon, the defence source said.

"It seems that they all died," the unnamed source was quoted as saying by Russia's Interfax news agency.

"he noted that pirates had been known to operate up to 1,200 nautical miles (2,200km) from the Somali coast. "

Pirates are mariners right?

A pound of C4 on a timer under the hull will do that every time

Slow leak in the inflatable would work well. Good on them. Put some fear into these pirates.

Wow. What a slow and terrible way to kill people. Make them eat each other floating around on a pool toy!

I'm guessing the pirates were somewhat the worse for wear before they went into the inflatable.

Perhaps I am just having an attack of humanity…. but celebrating the death of Somali pirates (ex-fishermen) who to date have only been guilty of trying to feed their families by illegal means after their livelihoods have been removed … by equally illegal means…. seems a bit harsh.

I understand their motives better than Jack Sparrow’s

Pirate Video of Sailors at Gunpoint | YachtPals.com

“Because these particular pirates have ignored the pleas of their own elders, to say nothing of their pirate brethren, it's said that if the Chandlers come to harm these men will have no friends in the world, even among other pirates. Certainly they are threatening the business of piracy, as retaliation will likely be harsh and far-reaching, with public sentiment around the world growing to support a major military operation. It seems that even the softest hearts turn hard at the sight of pensioners at gunpoint.”

Just curious how these brutal captives will take the news of the Russian claims
