I can assure you that is true, but it is changing.
We now have lots of Damn Yankees roaming around there now during the winter, not nearly as bad as down south, but give it time.
You know the difference between a Damn Yankee and just a Yankee don't you?

Hmm, I'm speaking from experiences living near water. It appears you are speaking from experience on land and extrapolating.

I don't know about Poland, but the government here isn't interested in owning boat storage yards, nor paying someone else for the service.

On edit.. If money is an issue, I think that waterfront property owners should see no problem in paying an extra 'clean view' tax?

After all, it seems it is the waterfront property owners desire to have an idyllic wiew over waters they do not own.

It is analogous to local communities in low height housing areas not wanting a skyscraper in their neighbourhood (on land they do not own). It is their interest to monitor plans of a local council's planning office for future development plans.
The onus SHOULD be on the boater who, instead of anchoring overnight, removes all markings from his boat and leaves it there for 2 years!!!!! And it is NOT about having an idyllic view-it is about the water being used as a junkyard for someone too lazy to sell or find a place to dispose of their unwanted boat!

That's correct. The trick is how do you track down the dumbass who does this kinda thing? They're stupid enough to do it, but just smart enough to move all traces like HINs and other identifying marks.

You're so right! Eventually it will be removed but it costs us all. In the past 6 months the DNR has towed 2 junked boats out of our waterway.

SNIP

It's about money.
The money boaters spend in Florida is a drop in the bucket of the total amount of money spent in Florida. A "large group of boaters" is a drop in the bucket compared to a large group of tourists who visit Florida yearly.

The reality of the matter is that Florida is way too over crowded, both with boaters and a much larger number of non boaters. Many Florida residents would be more than happy to see the number of folks, both boaters and non boaters, in Florida decrease.

Boaters saying they will boycott Florida would result in cheers from many Florida residents.

In that case it should not be enacting laws which lead to the need for such yards and services.

BTW how many auto junk yards does the gov't own? And why the same system, i.e. private disposal of abandoned property from public ways, cannot be worked out for boats? Oh, yeah I forgot - the greed of marine industry in general which wants all of the profits to itself but wants to pass on the costs of the disposal of it's products upon the taxpayers. State supported corporate socialism at its best.

Until the lay offs start in the marine and supporting industries. It's not just the cruisers passing through. It's the buyers of new and used boats, fishing charterers, etc. And with Cuba opening up do you really think most cruisers would take this crap from FL waterfront ***holes rather than sail another 100-200 miles to a place which will welcome them with open arms?

I think the 4million dollar yacht docked behind the 10 million dollar home doesn't interfere with the view, just the 27" sloop anchored 200' from the mainland ruins the views .

Exactly. Nor would the local LE be stupid enough to hassle a 4mil yacht knowing that they'd be one phone call away from a reprimand from their brass.

Maybe its time that the USA passed a law that before one can own anything bigger than 17ft one has to pass a test and obtain a licence.. that should whittle down the folks looking for cheap beachfront accommodation.
Might save taxpayers $$'s as well in fewer rescues..

Actually it would be much better if we could pass a Constitutional Amendment requiring abolishing 2 old laws before 1 new law can be passed.

Do everyone a favor and read the law that's at the center of this thread. No where in it does it require Government to float/tow/haul/ or store boats.

Money talks. If you want to stop the waterfront land owners then tax them on the additional imputed value of the exclusivity of their new ocean bottom property.
