His books, amongst many others, were part of my early nautical reading. Talk about living life to the fullest, and along the lines dictated by head and heart... a hero to me.

Here, there is Claire Allcard's book 'The Intricate Art of Living Afloat'. It's an easy read and she is right on. It's obvious she and Edward were top quality sailors.

Typical comment is 'Leave when your boat is seaworthy. It's never "ready"'.
