Re: Do we need to be preparing for Arctic cruising strategies because of Global Cooli

In the "technology will fix this" dept:

The Juno probe was successfully moved into orbit around Jupiter.

Google's response

Awesome.

If we (collectively) can do this, we can do anything. Congrats to NASA for pulling this off, while still engaging in their main role of faking climate data in support of Obama's evil plans for global socialism.

Nah, that's probably only a secondary role.

"When I became the NASA administrator, (President Obama) charged me with three things. One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering."

From fulfilling President John F. Kennedy's calling for the nation to land a man on the moon, to President Barack Obama's never ending desire to help make certain groups of people "feel good" about themselves. Remarkable how one political party's standards and expectations for what was once the world's preeminent space agency have "evolved."

Coal has become less valuable partly because it has been displaced by cheaper natural gas, and partly because it is coming under increased regulation because mining and using it causes harmful results.

A pretty fair comment. And don't forget Hillary Clinton's promise to kill off the coal industry while out on the campaign trail. It's credited with driving a lot of historically solid blue collar Dem voters over to Trump.

The above chart [see below] shows what happens to stock prices when the market decides your product isn't so valuable.

Yes, I have seen charts like this before, and others where the squiggly line goes uphill when the value of a company's stock has been appreciating. I'm sure that traders who had shorted Peabody were delighted when they heard Hillary's announcement.

In this post it was argued that if the full cost to society of using fossil fuels was deducted from the value of oil companies, it would eat up all of their profits. Makes you want to run right out and buy a few more shares of XOM, doesn't it?

Since nobody has yet determined nor certainly quantified what this full cost to society actually is, then investors who believe that oil prices may be starting to stabilize may in fact want to buy a few more shares of a company that Warren Buffet describes as "superb." Retirees fortunate enough to have Exxon in their retirement accounts would also appreciate having additional shares given the co.'s high rate of dividend payments.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This Is Why Warren Buffet Dumped His Exxon Holding
At the start of the 4th quarter of 2014, Exxon stock was valued at about the same amount as it closed at today, namely $93/share. XOM Stock Quote - Exxon Mobil Corp. Stock Price Today (XOM:NYSE) - MarketWatch. Given Warren Buffett's apparent adulation for the company, what insight do you have as to why he sold other than to invest in cos. that he believed would offer a higher return during this same time period?

Massive growth in Antarctic sea ice.

Antarctic sea ice in 2014
On Sept. 19, 2014, the five-day average of Antarctic sea ice extent exceeded 20 million square kilometers (about 7.7 million square miles) for the first time since 1979, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center. The red line shows the average maximum extent from 1979-2014. (Image courtesy NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio/Cindy Starr)

EXPANDING ICE
The sea ice surrounding Antarctica has been slowly increasing in area since the satellite record began in 1979. But the rate of increase rose nearly five fold between 2000 and 2014, following the IPO transition to a negative phase in 1999.

The new study finds that when the IPO changes phase, from positive to negative or vice versa, it touches off a chain reaction of climate impacts that may ultimately affect sea ice formation at the bottom of the world.

When the IPO transitions to a negative phase, the sea surface temperatures in the tropical eastern Pacific become somewhat cooler than average when measured over a decade or two. These sea surface temperatures, in turn, change tropical precipitation, which drives large-scale changes to the winds that extend all the way down to Antarctica.

This para. from the same article seems to balance out your comments better:

“Compared to the Arctic, global warming causes only weak Antarctic sea ice loss, which is why the IPO can have such a striking effect in the Antarctic," said Bitz. "There is no comparable natural variability in the Arctic that competes with global warming.”

HOWEVER. It seems like we've heard a lot about Antarctic ice retreat on the western side of the continent due to MMGW, and ice expansion in the east (may have reversed that) due to increased snowfall from MMGW-induced warmer temps. What gives? Have I misunderstood or is there valid scientific uncertainty concerning Antarctic ice?

This is about the funniest thread I have seen online..and as the moderators have said...better to keep the crazies locked up here than out roaming freely around the rest of the forum...man is that the truth.

Not sure it will answer your valid questions, but here is another article on that research:

Yep. From scientific societies trying to keep a straight face writing about present "severe" effects of climate change in order to promote future research funding; to governance wanting to tax developers for land subsidence under the guise of climate change. The list goes on.

One can only imagine the floodgates that would burst open, releasing a deluge of fees, taxes and charges loosely attributed to climate change should the alarmist fantasy of silencing skeptic dissent be brought to fruition.
