several cruisers I know have sold their yachts here in thailand , rather than run the gauntlet and sail across the horn of africa back to the USA or europe.

There has been another discussion on the forum today regarding the "perceived" threat and it has been interesting to hear others perception of the problem from the comfort of their home waters and armchairs.
We are currently comfortable at Marina Island at Pulau Pangkor doing a mini refit. As soon as the weather looks better up your way we will head up to Thailand and maybe catch up for a beer. There isn't any surf here so it means that we are working hard on the boat jobs.
