Safest in what way? Security? Weather? Nav hazards?

Most folks get there via either the W Carib route (Mexico, Belize, ...Panama, Colombia) or the E Carib route via the ABC's and then to Colombia.

Re: Club Nautico in Cartagena - Still There ?

Safety weather wise. Sea conditions, currents, prevailing winds.....Would like to transit the Bahamas, then cross over from Haiti/DR during late Feb.
Any thoughts?

Re: Club Nautico in Cartagena - Still There ?

After crossing the windward passage (Haity-Cuba) you will most probably find favorable winds up to mid forties when closer to Cartagena (50 to 200 Nm); late February is the windiest seasson and there is a 40% chance that seas would be higher than 8 Feet. See pilots charts http://msi.nga.mil/MSISiteContent/St...106/106feb.pdf

If you like less agitated seas wait until the wind calm a little; April.

I use to live in Cartagena . You can anchor your boat right off the shore for free I think . Very nice city and the women there are so . So beautiful and friendly

And I really like the yacht club with the original harbor fortifications.
