Straightforward honesty is a virtue, true; but as “Miss Manners” says, it does not trump all others. It does not justify unkindness and rudeness.
I just read the thread for the first time and == WAY to go Gord

Yeah, I'm the 'bad guy'...the guy who actually personally replaces all of his throughhulls, seacocks, and cockpit drains before he puts his 'new' old boat back in the water. That somehow makes me the (fill in the verb here) du jour because I expect that others should do likewise before embarking on a voyage, particularly a blue water one.

Not Sure,

You don't seem to understand what people are saying to you.

It has nothing to do with expecting that others do what you would do before embarking on a voyage. It has to do with simple courtesy, common decency, respect for others, and the ability to get along with people in an online community such as Cruisers Forum.

I suggest we simple ignore the accusations, innuendos and arrogant attitude of some members and try to focus on what this thread should be about.

Learning from the misfortunes of others and using that to help others make safe passages

And helping Susan and her crew heal their wounds and find ways to continue with their dreams.

If some members insist on being rude I suggest we just ignore the comments. Responding to it only encourages it.

True sailors help others in need it is the way of the sea and the way it should be.

Somehow I don't get the feeling that you'd all be so 'forgiving', 'caring', and 'friendly' if it happened to be a boatload of Haitians 30 miles off of the US coast that had their boat fall apart around them.

No cuz that's illegal immigration and they are breaking the law...IF Susan and her crew had stolen the boat I would call it due justice as well..

Now back to the regularly scheduled programming..

What makes you say that? It is the law of the sea to help anyone in danger and it is the responsible act as a human to help those in need. Are you useing the race card now to bait the forum? You sound more and more like a troll.

Wayfare

I would be glad to i think the subject of an escape plan is a great one. I think most of us have emergency or crash bags but you know I never really have made a plan. Might be time to start thinking about that.

Not sure what you mean by re bonding?

And what would you like to know about Marelon thru hull fittings?

Sailvayu,

Thank you, but I was referring to s/v Escape Plan's post a few posts back. I should have quoted him but presently I'm using my phone to type and I'm all thumbs.
