Chandlers: $430,000 Ransom Paid !

The Somali pirates have been paid $430,000 ransom for the Chandlers.

Of course they have not been released and the pirates want more.

I don't know if this news has been reported here while we have been out of contact.

Anyway it just sux!!!!!!

A) It shows you the pirates won't release people even if you pay the ransom
b) It shows you what each cruising boat doing the Gulf of Aden is worth to these scum suckers.

You'd think they'd post something like that on the 'Save the Chandlers' website, but nope: Help Paul and Rachel Chandler return home safely!

Reuters is usually fairly reliable, but the link you posted isn't working for me....

The article linked says the family paid $430,000 of the $800,000 ransom and the Somalis in Britain (non-profit or lobbyists or whatever kind of group they are) are supposed to cough up the other $400k as a charitable action to have them released. However, Somalis in Britain has yet to send their pledged portion of the ransom to the pirates.

Works for me too, now. But I'd still like to see some verification - Google searches and their own website show nothing. I do hope they are released soon, though.
