Re: captain's log, april 30, 2014 from the Rebel Heart Blog

Can I get the CF donations thing first?

Then I'll have a better idea of just how much I can afford to screw up..

And we wont give up. We'll continue chasing our dream just as soon as we can get a replacement boat
Probably have to throw in some of the book royalties...

I'm still chuckling at the poster who thought Boaty's last delivery was "epic."
Epic being the length of the thread!

Whew. Where do I begin? Where we all reading the same SPOT thread, and Boatman's replies once he had some time to review and explain?

He wasn't lost.

The backstay wasn't broken.

He didn't have shredded sailS.

He needed need to be saved.

ach, another mainstream media ghoul...can't get ANY facts included or right.

C'mon, from all your posts here, I'm sure you know better. Pllease.

I know boatman covered this, but how wrong can one poster be who spent lots of time on that thread.

Sheez...

Most people on this earth have far less than that family and have to work their tail off just to survive another day so lets at least keep it in perspective. They are home safe and sound and have choices because they have money in their jeans, not so bad considering.
The thing is that when you fight to survive every day, that is your life. You just put your head down and do it. Yes the stress can build, yes it is horrible. What the Rebel Crew has gone through is a sudden and dramatic change of life style. The stress explodes on you and it can take a long time to readjust.

As for the donations, many gave not because they believed the family needed money, but as a tangible way of showing support after reading the vitriol aimed at them.

The intent of the OP to welcome Eric back into a friendly community seems to be lost within a certain tribe of hyenas content to fight over the scraps of someone's broken dream.

Makes me ashamed and I am out of here!

I don't see how wanting Erics account means we have any less empathy to the situation and the family and their future.

Wanting Eric's account and demanding it on a public forum are different things. Why not be content to wait for Eric to return when he's ready?

No offense intended. For me, this is a question of one's own good judgment, and having space for people who are grieving to get on with it. When they come to acceptance, we may hear directly from them if they are not put off by us all here beforehand.

Right.. time for another coffee..

I'll start with [emoji274]. Okay. If you read boaties thread of his spot travels it was speculated he lost his backstay, sails location, electronics, beer, mind, any hope of making land etc.... A fund was even suggested. All great ideas mostly had no relation to reality. As boatman has corrected the speculation.
