Re: Capsize

Definitely was the monohull charter fishing vessel Rapture.

Was a picture and story in todays Mackay Daily mercury paper showing it hauled out on travel lift for investigation.

I imaging a free water stability issue.

cheers

A little hard to read

In order to tow it back capsized they must have put some floats on it I would guess?

Re: Capsize

Interesting comment on the Steber 36 being used as a rescue vessel - presumably the sports / non-flybridge version only. It was a few years back that a Steber 36 Flybridge model capsized in Australia drowning what could have been 2 children in the cabin (I can't recall exactly). There were circa 50 people on board at the time it capsized! (from memory) I'm sure that the rescue ones are more stable but you'd expect to fit that many on a boat of that length without it capsizing.

Not necessarily, we did the same to a similar vessel on a pearl farm...

The hull was still water tight and the sponsons where similar to Rapture's, she floated her upturned hull quite high, we just grabbed the anchor line and hauled it onboard and towed away, albeit very slowly...

We also did similar damage to the topsides that Rapture has by towing her to far into the shallows...
