Ya know, I don't think too much of the FH, and Hot Rod could be a bit offputting in person... but so far the naysayers have said (loudly and with accompaniment):

He would never finish building it.
It would collapse when he tried to lift it onto a launch cradle.
The home made launch cradle would never reach the water.
The boat would fall apart when launched.
It would immediately sink.
It would soon become saturated and sink.
It would break apart in the first winter storm and sink.
It would be gobbled up by the Raccoon debris collector ship.
It would be towed away by the authorities and sent to the tip.
It would never leave Richardson's Bay.
It would never get under the GG bridge.

So far, each of these predictions has been wrong.

As I said, I don't think much of the vessel and suspect that it will come to grief if really at sea, but by golly, Hot Rod has thumbed his nose at all his critics so far (and dentally removed a finger from one if stories are to be believed!), and who knows... he might fool us all yet again!

I doubt it, but wish him well in his venture (even though the boat is Fugly and he is cantankerous).

As a matter of fact, I met one of the nay-sayers in Mexico. He and his wife were splitting up and selling the boat. The irony is Hot Rod outlasted him!
