'Boatyard' Reality TV Series

Boatyard - The Series I came accross this demo( about 25 min duration) on the Driscoll Boat yard web page. The series is said to be the recreational boaters version of "This Old House". If this info has been previously posted , I apologize .

This link should get you directly to it without clicking through all the links.

==> Boatyard

Not bad, but it seemed to lack a story line. Hopefully they'll get it on the air, though.

It's random. They need some suspense, they need some characters, and they need to stop shooting almost everything looking into the sun. None of the guys speak well on camera. It's a good idea and it won't be hard to fix but in this episode I wasn't waiting to see what happens next, I was waiting to see if anything was going to happen.

Much telling but very little showing.

Re: "Boatyard" TV reality series.

It has no story structure and appears to be just a bunch of footage thrown together in a hurry.

They could salvage this and greatly increase their odds of success by hiring a writer and telling a story with narration and piecing in their footage.

Re: "Boatyard" TV reality series.

The editing was too choppy. Just random 5-second bursts of a story without really telling a story. Just cut to the next guy doing something unrelated after a sentence or two.

I'd be interested in watching it, it just didn't seem put together very well.

Re: 'Boatyard' Reality TV Series

I watched it last night. I suspect its a rough compilation. It does say demo on it. This video looks like it's just bits n pieces stitched together to give you an idea. I suspect the final issue will be much more cohesive.

He he, it better or its going to be a flop.

Charlie, I agree with those that tell you to make one. Go for it. It can be done fairly simply by getting a good HD camcorder and some video editing software. Judging from some of the stuff I've seen on Youtube, it's possible to do quality work if you put some effort into it. I for one would love to see a record of the work you did on Lady J or some of the other boats. That 1924 power boat would also interest me. I love old wooden boats, and the work you and your guys do should be put out there to be appreciated.

Re: 'Boatyard' Reality TV Series

They need the Baywatch girls in bikinis washing boats! Then lack of story structure will be irrelevant.
